This is Torre Venezia, the first completely ecological smart tower.
We are at Expo 2020 Dubai, in the Italian pavilion, where most of the architectural elements inside are recycled or recyclable, reused or reusable, since the pavilion owes its inspiration to the circular economy and fully embraces the concept of recycling and reuse.
Overturned boats for the construction of the roof, open walls covered with ropes made from millions of recycled bottles and recycled orange peels used for the flooring, the Italian pavilion is the most sustainable and the only carbon free among all the other 192 present at Expo. It is also the only one with a completely ecological cell tower, Torre Venezia, demonstrating how it is possible to combine technology, respect for the environment, creativity and beauty.
Our smart tower houses 5G antennas for cellular connectivity and LED displays for information to the public. The supporting structure is made of steel, an essential material for the development of a sustainable economy as it can be recycled over and over again. The coatings are transparent panels made of eco-friendly, recyclable and biodegradable material.
Like all the elements of the pavilion, Torre Venezia is also made entirely of recycled and recyclable materials and that is the key to success: it is not necessary to engage a great and heroic action to change the world; rather, it is the combination of many small initiatives by everybody that will promote truly change and will transform the world.
