Here it is the latest installation of our Dicecell! Once again it’s an indoor site, once again a very crowed place, once again in China: Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport, the principal airport serving Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan province.
China is confirmed to be the world’s largest 5G technology launch.
In the ’90s we, Europeans, were the first to adopt 2G; then, Japan pioneered 3G in the early 2000s; the US, finally, dominated the launch of 4G, in 2011. But this time China is leading in telecommunications rather than playing catch-up and it sees 5G as its first chance to lead wireless technology development on a global scale.
Furthermore, China views 5G as crucial to the country’s tech sector and economy. Chinese tech companies want to become the next Apple or Microsoft—innovative global giants worth nearly a trillion dollars.
After years of hype about gigabit speeds that will let you download full-length movies in mere seconds, 5G is finally becoming a reality. It will soon become a reality also here in Italy, where MNOs are completing their tests and are almost ready to deploy this new technology to the market.
