Omnitel – Vodafone
calzavara cooperates with Omnitel Pronto Italia (now Vodafone) to prepare the tender for the second Italian mobile telephone operator in Italy. Omnitel Pronto Italia is awarded the tender and calzavara is the first company to be an accredited supplier of products and services to implement the new mobile telephone network. From 1995 to date, calzavara ha collaborated with Vodafone to erect over 700 radio base stations.
1992
The first COW, cell on wheels
The first COW, cell on wheels, is designed and manufactured. The company is awarded the tender by Telecom Argentina for the supply of dozens of emergency mobile stations. From 1992, calzavara has been supplying in Italy and overseas over 300 COWs, RDUs, mobile radio base stations.
1991
The first slip-joint polygonal pole
The first slip-joint polygonal pole is manufactured and erected to support mobile radio network antennas. Since then calzavara has been installing over 2400 of these infrastructures for the most important domestic and international MNOs (mobile network operators).
1989
TACS standard, the first generation of cellular network
calzavara supplies and installs for SIP, at the Mestre (Venice) exchange, the first pilot plant in Italy with TACS standard.
1989
Establishing of Clampco Sistemi
calzavara founds a new company, Clampco Sistemi, that has become leader in the development of aircraft warning light systems. In 2007 Clampco Sistemi is incorporated into calzavara to remain active as a brand in the Lighting Engineering Solutions business unit.
1984
RTMS, the second generation of the mobile communication service in Italy
calzavara commences to operate with SIP to supply and install the 450 MHz RTMS mobile telephone network.
1980
The first self-supporting tower
calzavara produces the first self-supporting tower for SIP. From this date the company has been producing and selling in over 25 countries, more than 1,000 self-supporting and guyed towers.
1979
The first calzavara passive repeater
Design of the first calzavara passive repeater. The company constantly grows and puts into operation, for the former company SIP, numerous radio links with its own passive repeaters. From this date there have been supplied and installed in Italy and overseas over 550 microwave radio links (frequencies of 2.5 GHz to 21 GHz).
